Last updated October 18, 2026

The Music Stem is an independent educational platform for learning, hearing, playing and writing music in the browser.

What It Teaches

The site teaches Western music, Hindustani music and Jazz side by side.

Hindustani music is the classical music of North India. Its lessons work from a movable Sa, the swaras, raga and the cycle of a tala.

Beside the courses are Ear Training, Instruments, Composition, StemLab, practice exams and audition practice.

Everything on the site is open to everyone, with no card and no sign-up.

Anyone who wants to understand music from the inside, at any age, from a first lesson to grade exams and auditions.
