Audition Preparation Handbook

Prepare for the Interview

Explain artistic choices

  • Prepare a concise explanation of why you selected each work and what you learned while studying it.

Discuss the process

  • Be ready to describe a difficulty you encountered, the practice method you used and what changed in the result.

Know your own portfolio

  • For composition or production, identify your role, collaborators, source materials and technical decisions. Do not claim work you did not perform.

Practice a genuine conversation

  • Answer questions directly and listen carefully. Avoid memorized speeches that prevent natural follow-up.
